My name is Valerie Trujillo and I have been the principal at QJSHS since December of 2010.  Welcome to our school's website and I hope that you will find it a useful tool.  Our goal is to keep you up to date with the academic and social events that take place throughout the 2013-2014 school year.  You will find pictures, important announcements, school grades, etc. posted for QJSHS.  If you do not find the answers to all your questions and inquiries on our site, please do not hesitate to call our office for assistance.

As an overview, our school is consistently focused on its vision that, "All students will graduate college or career ready." We are very excited that our school continues to make academic gains as evidenced by standardized assessments. Questa High School received a "B" and Questa Junior High went up to a "C" this past school year.  We believe that we increase student achievement through the analysis of student data and the assessment of our instructional practices.  We have very high expectations of our students academically and behaviorally.  Following the school code of conduct and displaying the virtues of honor, respect, and effort is important to maintain a safe, positive environment for optimal learning. It is also expected that parents be involved and supportive of their child's learning. This shows our students that their education is important to all stakeholders involved.

My hope is that your visit to our website today is helpful and that you log out with a positive impression of our school.  Thank you for your support.  We could not succeed without you.

With Kind Regards,

Valerie Trujillo

Students at Questa Junior/Senior High School are provided with academic opportunities to learn from highly-qualified teachers in the content areas of Mathematics, English, Spanish, Science, and Social Studies.  Students in grades 10-12 are given the opportunity to take courses at the UNM Taos Campus each Friday and earn college credit for the courses offered.  Students enrolled in Culinary Arts, Welding and Spanish are able to receive dual-credit; which means that they recieve both high school credit as well as college credit.  For more information on our dual credit courses, you may contact Mrs. Lynn Galusky at the counseling office (lgalusky@questa.k12.nm.us).  Questa Junior and Senior high students also have elective courses in Fine Arts, Industrial Arts, & Technology.  We are proud to announce that Questa High School received a designation of MET on New Mexico's Adequate Yearly Progress report provided by the State Department of Education.  We are committed to continue on our path to provide opportunities for our students to succeed at the Questa Junior/Senior High School.

The Athletic Department at QJHS provides opportunities for male and female students to join in sports in the fall, winter, and spring seasons.  Available sports for our athletes include Football, Soccer (co-ed), Volleyball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Baseball, Track (co-ed), and Cheer/Dance.  For more information on our Athletic programs you may contact our Athletic Directors Mrs. Valerie Trujillo and Jesus Maes.
