As per the QISD Attendance policy, if a student is tardy 20 minutes or more in any given class, he/she will receive an automatic absence in that class period (Jr./Sr. High School Students only), also parents are required to contact the school concerning absences and notify the schools of extenuating circumstances that may hamper school attendance by a child. The excuse must be received within 48 hours of the absence or the absence will be recorded as unexcused. State law requires that after 3 days of illness a written doctor’s excuse be provided for documentation.

When checking out your child from the school, you must physically enter the building and sign your child out. The student is not allowed to take the sign out sheet to you or exit the building for security reasons. Students will not be allowed to leave without completion of this process. If bringing items to your child, you must come into the office and sign in as a visitor. You may then leave the items with the secretaries in the office for delivery or they will call the student down only if necessary as not to interrupt the educational process.

Dear Students, Parents, and Community of Questa Junior/Senior High School,

As principal of Questa Junior/Senior High School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back to another great year in Questa.  We here at Questa Junior/Senior High School are excited to have students back in the classrooms filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning.  It is our mission is to challenge all students to accelerate their learning through rigorous instruction. Additionally, we strive to have all students from Questa Senior High School graduate college and career ready.  Here at Questa Junior/Senior High School, we have great teachers who have spent time planning to ensure student engagement and student learning.  Teachers will also be analyzing academic data to determine current skill levels and to set goals for growth and improvement.

There are a few new things that will be occurring at Questa Independent Schools for the upcoming year.  This year, Questa Junior/Senior High school will be implementing an advisory class to help students focus on and track their academic progress.  Students will set goals, conduct research on careers or colleges of their choice and visit lessons regarding daily in and out routines of what occurs in school and how to deal with some the struggles that may encounter.  In addition, Questa Independent Schools will now be on a 4-day school week with students having every Friday off and school beginning from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.  Please view our website for further information.  I hope that you will find the website helpful and informative.

I am honored to serve as principal of Questa Junior/Senior High School.  It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community such as Questa striving to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth.

Once again, welcome back!

Dr. Mae A. LaBella, Questa Jr.Sr. High School Principal
