I'm so happy to be here in QISD as the principal of two amazing schools-AVE/AVEI, RCSLA! I'm looking forward to implementing exciting curricular innovations and school events that will engage and develop our students with joyful learning experiences.

My life has been enriched not only my own children, but by the students I have known in the schools where I have taught in grades K-12 and served as a local and district administrator.  My promise is that our students at Alta Vista and Rio Costilla will be special to his/her teacher and to all of the rest of us who serve as educators.  My personal Vision is to give each child ACCESS to the American dream through education.  My personal Mission is to instill a sense of pride and accomplishment in myself, my school, and all those around me.

My journey through life has left me with two Master's degrees, endorsements in reading, TESOL, fine arts and K-12 administration.  I am licensed in both New Mexico (Level III Elementary, Secondary and Administration) and Illinois (NCLB HQ).  My personal resources include my education, continuing my development as an educator, and my drive and desire to provide the best I can for the good of our students.  They deserve all our best efforts.  While these are now your times to treasure your own child's elementary school years and take pride in them, we look forward together to their educational growth and accomplishments.

I welcome parents and family, and hope many of you will take the opportunity to become involved.  Come talk to me to learn about what they do in school and what you can contribute to make their experience even better.

Looking forward to the 2015-2016 school year, I send you

All the best,

Susan J. Blatz
